SHOULD MY HOTEL BE INVOLVED IN MORE ONLINE TRAVEL AGENCIES?

· Channel Management,GDS

One of the most frequent complaints we here from hoteliers is this:

- We are in several online agencies, but only one or two are selling.

In order to adequately respond to this topic, it is important to answer two questions.

1-) Should I be involved in more online channels?

2-) Why am I unable to sell my hotel rooms even though I am registered in several agencies?

Let’s come and look at the answers to these questions together.

1-) Should I be involved in more online channels?

If you are using Channel Manager technology and have universally configured your room rates, then as much as possible there is quite a benefit to be involved in online channels. If you do not get involved in these channels, you will never have the opportunity to sell through them. If you are indeed involved in them, you will at least have this possibility.

The most important thing here is the correct installation of Channel Manager and the online agency with which you will be connected. If you give attention to and spend time with agency A during its installation but do not give the same amount of attention to agency B, this agency will cause you more harm than good. Because of this, correct installation is very important.

2-) Why am I unable to sell my hotel rooms even though I am registered in several agencies?

As I explained earlier, the most important thing is correct installation. Every channel needs to have the same room types, price types and promotions. Without ensuring price equality, it’s not really right to complain about this. Don’t forget that you will get fruit from whichever channel you use. The tree you water will produce fruit whereas the tree you don’t water will dry out and fade. Because of this, the reason you can’t sell is generally because of incorrect management.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHANNEL MANAGER

It is important for the hotel’s upper management and investors to understand this. Without Channel Managerit is extremely difficult to manage 4–5 channels.

When I say it’s difficult, I am speaking about dynamic management.

I’m not speaking about setting it up once, entering the prices and leaving it by itself. You need to take care of, love, make various changes, change pictures, and play with the prices for every channel you set up. In this, it will take a lot of time if you do not haveChannel ManagerAnother difficulty is every extranet is different and it would be difficult to learn each one individually. Channel Manager has many advantages including allowing you to manage these from just one panel
